Now everybody loves getting free samples of anything and I for one especially love trying samples of ice cream/sorbet/gelato. I also love giving out samples of ice cream and sorbet, which I did plenty of recently when working the Scream Sorbet booth at the Sunnyvale Farmer's Market in Northern California. However, every once in awhile someone takes advantage and becomes a sample abuser. Don't be this person! Larry David will rant at you and it won't be pretty!

Cows & Cones
This ice cream joke comes courtesy of the hardwork and research done by one of my favorite indie rock bands, WE ARE SCIENTISTS. So here it is straight from the Sci-Cave folks!
And the difference between a cow and ice cream?
Ice cream's contents are enclosed by waffle, and a cow waffles when you ask him to disclose his contents!
See www.wearescientists.com for more awesome yokes n' yuks.

My 1972 Ice Cream Bible
The Great American Ice Cream book by Paul Dickson is my ice cream bible and probably one of the best used bookstore purchases I've ever made ($2 at the Iliad in North Hollywood in case you were wondering). As I make my way, slowly but surely (because I'm also reading the Johnny Cash Autobiography, The Who Sell Out by John Dougan and Lessons of a Lipstick Queen by Poppy King at the same time), through this massive text there are bound to be quotes from it and musings inspired by it along the way. To kick it off I'll start with the quote at the very beginning of the book, before you even hit the table of contents! that sounds like a line from some trippy Belle & Sebastian or Neutral Milk Hotel song.
"The only emperor is the emperor of ice cream." - Wallace Stevens
Ponder that.

Hubby Hubby! Wifey Wifey!
If peanut butter cookie dough ice cream, fudge and pretzels can be married in holy matrimony so should everyone else!
Ben & Jerry’s celebrated the freedom for gays and lesbians to marry in it’s home state of Vermont at the beginning of this month by changing the name of it’s famous chubby hubby flavor to hubby hubby. And the taste of freedom is sweet!
Partnered with the marriage equality group Freedom to Marry, Ben & Jerry’s are promoting awareness of the issue in the frozen section of your neighborhood grocery store and online. More info can be found at www.freedomtomarry.org or www.benjerry.com.
Now how about a Wifey Wifey flavor for all of us lovely ladies?

Brokenhearted Sundae
When you got the relationship blues, there's one thing that can cheer you up! A sundae! It seems like everyone I know lately is having issues with their mates, their loved ones, their crushes, their hubbies, their wifeys, their lovahs. So here's my recipe for a creamy, delicious sundae to patch up your stepped on, thrown out, emotastic heart. And listening to a little Saves the Day doesn't hurt either.
Straus Family Creamery Organic Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream (available at Whole Foods)
+
Fudge is My Life Mocha or Dark Chocolate Fudge (available at Whole Foods or online at www.fudgeismylife.com)
+
A can of Cool Whip Extra Creamy whipped cream (available at most grocery stores)
+
Lightly salted peanuts (any brand, available at most grocery stores)
+
Sprinkles (optional - adds a touch of color and brings a smile to your face)
Of course, you can substitute the ice cream, fudge, and whip cream with those of your choice. However, I highly recommend the Straus Family ice cream and the Fudge is My Life fudge. The Straus Family Creamery ice cream is indeed quite creamy but the mint chocolate chip is a nice, refreshing, lighter ice cream (so you don't feel like a super barge after). Fudge is My Life fudge is a nice, solid, not overly sugary/syrupy fudge that is made up in San Francisco and it never disappoints. So, mend that broken heart and move on!

Yelp!
Hey Everyone!
I just wanted to share that I know have my own url for Yelp.com. It's http://FudgeElevates.yelp.com. Please check it out, leave comments, compliment me, add me as a friend! I've got several reviews up there and counting. For LA, I've got a review of the Hollywood Farmer's Market, with a special update and shout out to CARMELA ICE CREAM (that alone without fudge can elevate!), O! Burger, The Knitting Factory, Wacko/La Luz De Jesus Gallery, etc, a mix of food and non food places. I've got a couple of reviews of some of my old East Coast haunts, the Bagel Mill in Peterborough, NH, Pinocchio's and Herrell's in Northampton, etc. If there are any places that you would like me to review or check out so I can review it, send me a line and I'll get on it!
